Pakistan: Group Of Terrorists Killed In Military Crackdown.

Sept: 16(PNB News).ISPR said in a statement that 5 terrorists were killed in the military crackdown in Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan district on Wednesday. The Inter-Services Public Relations further added that an anti-terrorist operation was launched near the Afghanistan border in the Asman Manza area. In the intelligence-based operation, 5 terrorists were eliminated while 7 Pak soldiers were martyred in fierce clashes with unidentified terrorists. North and south Waziristan was once deemed as the terrorist hub and no-go area in Pakistan. Pakistan had been the target of many terrorist organizations for a decade, different militant groups appeared during America’s War with Afghanistan.

The Waziristan agency being near the Afghan border had to face several attacks from different militant groups. In 2009, anti-terrorism Operation Rah-e-Nijat was launched in South Waziristan under the dynamic leadership of General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Mr: Asif Ali Zardari. Nipping the terrorism in bud and clearing the whole of South Waziristan from the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU)were the main objectives of the operation. The anti-terrorism operation Rah-e-Nijat was continued for 5 months,3 weeks, and 2 days. The ingenious military operation was executed brilliantly which produced significant results. On December 12, 2009, the Pakistani military announced the liberation of the entire region of Waziristan. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 594 Taliban militants were killed,100 others were captured while 80 Pakistani soldiers were martyred and about 250 were wounded in the Rah-e-Nijat operation. On June 14, 2018, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) supreme leader Mullah Fazlullah was killed in the US drone strike in Kunar, Afghanistan. He was a resident of Swat Valley.
