According to a press release issued by Major John Rigsbee, the military spokesperson for the United States Central Command, a drone operation in Syria on Friday killed top al-Qaeda commander Abdul Hamid al-Matar. The drone attack came two days after an Islamic state coordinated attack on a US military base in the southern part of Syria.
No American troops stationed in southern Syria were hurt or killed, in Islamic State’s drone and rocket attacks according to Major John Rigsbee. Army Maj. John Rigsbee further stated that al-Qaida’s ability to plot and carry out global activities endangering US people, our allies, and innocent civilians will be hampered by the death of al-Matar.
