The death toll from gunmen assaults in the northern region of Nigeria has surpassed 40.
Nigeria, Sokoto. (PNB News). About 43 people had been killed after gangsters went on a bloody rampage in the Sokoto state. Sokoto is a significant city in Nigeria’s northwest region. It is also the modern capital of Sokoto State, as well as the former capital of the north-western states. According to the state governor, this death toll is 3 times greater than the first death toll released by officials. Due to govt failure in a squashing insurgency, kidnapping for ransom, killing, and plundering have become the order of the day. The most recent attack occurred in the village of Ilela in Sokoto, which borders the Republic of Niger.
The attack lasted from Sunday night to early Monday morning, govt spokesman said on Wednesday. Earlier, state authorities had reported 15 deaths.” However, the death toll rose to 43 during the governor’s visit on Wednesday,” a spokesman for the governor said in a statement. Over the last year, miscreants have killed hundreds of people and kidnapped many more for emancipation in Nigeria, sparking a security crisis that the government is attempting to solve.
