UAE Orders 80 Rafale Jets In landmark Weapons Deal

UAE & France have consented to a $19 billion arms deal in which the Gulf state would get 80 Rafale military aircraft and 12 military helicopters

Rafale Jets. (PNB NEWS). The UAE struck a 14-billion-euro deal for 80 French-made Rafale fighter aircraft.

Other projects worth billions of euros were also reportedly secured, as President Emmanuel Macron began a Gulf visit on Friday.

The biggest foreign order for Rafale planes was confirmed as Macron met with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed on the first day of visit.

Macron will also travel to Qatar and Saudi Arabia as part of his tour.

“This is the aftereffect of the two nations’ essential union, which has reinforced their ability to act together for their independence and security,” Macron said.

According to a French official, the deal would directly support 7,000 jobs in France and ensure the inventory network of the Dassault Aviation-made jet until the end of 2031.
