. 06 troopers and 22 terrorists were killed in crackdown in Lake Chad area

. The operation was conducted by Niger and Nigeria armed forces

Central Africa, (PNB NEWS). Anti-Terrorists forces stationed in the region announced on Friday that 6 soldiers and 22 jihadists were killed during clashes in central Africa’s Lake Chad region.

The lake does have a long history of being one of Africa’s largest freshwater lakes.

Its surface area changes with the seasons and year to year. Lake Chad is located in the far west of Chad, near the Nigerian border.

The attack was carried out by troops from Niger and Nigeria using fighter jets in the Chad lake area.

The operation has been described as a “success” that benefited from “strong support from US partners”.

Lake Chad is a vast lake that runs through Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad. Boko Haram and Islamic State-affiliated extremists have used it as a safe haven.

According to the military, 22 terrorists and 6 soldiers were killed during the operation, the crackdown was ended up on Tuesday.

In the crackdown, 4 Nigerian soldiers and 2 Nigerien soldiers were killed, while 23 others were injured, the military statement further added.
