Iraq, Baghdad, (PNB NEWS). The head of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Directorate was dismissed for charges related to the assassination attempt on al-Kadhimi.
According to a highly secured source, Sabah al-Shibi, the director of explosive ordnance disposal, has been fired.
The same source added that al-Shibli has been transferred to the Administrative and Professional Inspection Department. The reason for the transfer has not been made clear in detail.
He said it could be related to his charges of complicity in the assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
Major-Gen Eyad Abed, the criminal evidence department head was reassigned to the directorate of administrative and professional inspection today for the same reason.
Three unidentified drone attacks were launched on Iraqi Prime Minister Kadhimi in the Green Zone, Baghdad’s most secure area.
Officials said a drone laden with explosives struck the building, injuring six of P.M bodyguards in an apparent assassination attempt.
Pro-Iranian factions of the PMF were blamed for an assassination attempt on the Iraqi Prime Minister.
PMF had also denied involvement in the assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, criticizing reports of the attack
The attack happens at a time when political tension was rising across Iraq as a result of new national elections.
The Fatah Coalition, an Iraqi political alliance, had warned against the U.S attempt to kill Iraqi political and military leaders and blame resistance forces.
On November 14, 2021, Al-Baldwin, a member of the Iraqi parliament voiced surprise at the government’s delay in releasing information about a recent drone strike on Prime Minister Mustafa Al-home.
In interviews with the Al-Maloumah news agency, he further added that the government’s delay in sharing details on a recent drone strike on the Prime Minister’s house is shocking.
Baldwin further added that U.S forces are “the first and last culprit” in the incident because the airspace of Baghdad’s Green Zone, which houses foreign embassies and government offices, is protected by the U.S Rocket and Artillery.
