Bahawalpur, Pakistan (NEWS PNB). On Monday evening, two buses collided in the eastern Bahawalpur district, killing at least eight people and injuring over 60 others. The crash happened in the Tamewali region in Bahawalpur, eastern Punjab province, govt said. Khairpur Tamewali is the capital of the Khairpur Tamewali Tehsil in the Bahawalpur District of Punjab, Pakistan. Rescue crews rushed to the scene as soon as they learned of the fatal accident. Passengers with serious injuries were transported to the hospital near the crash site.
The bus driver was charged for speeding and dangerous driving, according to police. Medical staff fears that the death toll could rise further, as many injured are in critical condition. No other identifying information about the victims has been released immediately by the officials.
