Bangladesh, (PNB NEWS). 7 Bangladeshis were killed while they were trying to reach Europe via the Mediterranean Sea Luigi Patronaggio said on Tuesday.
According to the Patronaggio statement, coastguards recovered 7 dead bodies on the boat near Lampedusa Island.
Lampedusa is a coastal island in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of southern Italy.
Lampedusa Governor Salvatore Martello confirmed the deaths, claiming that the vessel had 280 asylum seekers, the majority of whom were from Bangladesh and Egypt. The tragedy took place 28 km off the Lampion coast.
The victims were illegal migrants, aspirants for better prospects in Europe.
