Kenya, Mandera (PNB NEWS). As many as 10 people were killed on Monday after the vehicle struck with an IED, media reports said.
The blast happened early Monday morning near Mandera town, according to police. Mandera is the administrative headquarters in Kenya’s old North Eastern Province.
The explosive device was allegedly planted by al-Qaeda-backed radicals who had sneaked into the area from Somalia, police said.
The number of passengers in the ill-fated vehicle could not be determined promptly.
According to witnesses, the death toll could rise due to serious injuries sustained by some passengers.
The responsibility for the deadly roadside blast was not immediately claimed by any radical group, nor further report was released about the blast victims.
