The regional branch of Islamic State (ISIS), Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), and Tehreek-i- Taliban Pakistan (TTP) largely funded and supported by India’s foreign intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) have been targeting and killing Pakistani military and paramilitary forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since the beginning of US war on Afghanistan in late 2001.

The BLA first came to public attention in the summer of 2000, when it claimed responsibility for a series of bombing attacks on Pakistani forces.
