Heavy storms and landslides caused by severe rains killed 94 persons in Rio de Janeiro
Mexico, (PNB NEWS). According to local authorities, strong storms and landslides in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro have killed 94 people. Scores of people are still missing, possibly resulting in further collateral damage. The death toll from deadly storms have been confirmed by the local authorities on Tuesday. The storm has swamped the city’s highways and bungalows, as shown in the photo.
State Department said hundreds of military personnel and other rescue teams have been striving hard to help out civilians in a storm-hit city. Mudslides caused by severe rainfalls have destroyed hundreds of houses and left thousands without shelter. The mayor of Petropolis has announced a state of emergency in the city.
