Burkina Faso, (PNB NEWS). A gold mine explosion in Burkina Faso left 60 people dead and more than 100 injured.
The tragedy was presumed to have been triggered by chemicals kept in the mine, media reported on Monday. The accident happened on Monday in the village of Gbomblora in Pone province.
According to local news sources, the first explosion occurred at 2:12 p.m., leaving everyone stunned and baffled.
One of the rescuers told the press that body parts of miners and raw gold stocked inside the mine were strewn everywhere after the deadly blast.
More blasts happened when laborers were trying to escape horrifying events.
The report stated that the injured and the deceased were sent to a medical center.
The condition of many of the injured remains critical and the death toll is expected to rise.
