Putin believes that Russia will deal with the situation and that the sanctions are discriminatory
Moscow, (PNB NEWS). Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Western sanctions are illegal and Russia would deal with the emerging situation patiently.
He also asserted that Moscow, a major energy producer that supplies one-third of Europe’s gas, would respect its contract agreements.
Putin further said that the punishing sanctions imposed on Russia since the start of the Russian campaign in Ukraine can be felt.
“Obviously, people’s demand for particular product groups is constantly increasing in such periods,” he said, “but we have no doubt that by working sensibly, we will solve all of these challenges.”
“People will gradually adjust, and they will understand that there are no events that cannot be switched off and handled,” he further stated.
At the same meeting, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov explained that Russia had taken steps to limit capital outflows and that the country would repay its foreign debt in rubles.
He further said that since Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine, Western countries have launched an economic and financial war, particularly against Russia.
He argued that by freezing Russian gold and foreign currency reserves, the West has breached its obligations to Russia.
He claimed that it is still attempting to halt foreign trade.
