In a Congolese military camp, an explosion in a bar killed eight people

Kinshasa, (PNB NEWS). A bomb exploded near a military camp in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, killing at least 8 people and injuring 3 others.

The military base is around 5 km from Goma, a city on the Rwandan border that hosts a significant United Nations peacekeeping mission.

The tragedy’s cause could not be determined.

The government said that agencies had been dispatched to investigate.

The Congolese army is fighting numerous rebel organizations in the troubled eastern part of the country.

There was no sign at the time that the explosion was caused by the attack.
