China opposes the U.S. approval of an arms sale to the Taiwan region, Chinese Ministry of National Defense spokesperson said
Taipei, (PNB NEWS). On Thursday, Tan Kefei, a spokesman for China’s Defense Ministry, called on Washington to immediately cancel plans to supply arms to Taiwan and end military ties with Taiwan to prevent further damage to Sino-American military relations.
The statement came in response to a US State Department-sanctioned $95 million arms sales plan to Taipei.
“US move greatly violates the principle of the one-China policy.
“It is also a substantial meddling in China’s internal affairs,” Tan added.
Weapons sales also jeopardize China’s security interests, decimate relations between the two countries and their armed forces, and endanger peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
