Zimbabwe, (PNB NEWS). As per authorities, a bus taking worshipers to an Easter service in Zimbabwe drove off the road and fell into a ravine, killing at least 35 people and injuring 71 others.
The bus was conveying members from a local church to a gathering in the south of the country.
Police confirmed the accident that happened last night, claiming 35 people were killed and 71 were injured.
The bus was overcrowded, the preliminary report said. Coaches in Zimbabwe have a seating capacity of 60 to 75 passengers.
According to police, the bus was traveling from Chimanimani in the southeast to Masvingo, 280 km away, when it crashed near Chipinge.
One of the police officers said, ” the accident has left us shocked and disappointed.”
It was one of the worst incidents in recent history, he said. Road accidents are common in Zimbabwe, particularly due to heavy traffic during the festive season.
