Mosque Blast: Health officials, hospitals received 66 dead bodies and 78 injured people
Afghanistan, (PNB News). More than 50 worshipers were martyred in a powerful explosion after Friday prayers at a mosque in Kabul, according to local media.
During the month of Ramadan, ISIS strikes killed almost 100 people across Afghanistan.
Authorities reported the Khalifa Sahib Mosque in the capital’s west was targeted yesterday.
The attack occurred as worshippers at the mosque gathered for a congregation following Friday prayers.
Someone they thought was a suicide bomber joined them during the gathering and blew bombs, according to the Imam mosque.
The preliminary investigation report suggests that after the blast nuts, bolts, and steel nails spread everywhere at the scene. Seriously injured, and dead bodies of blast victims were shifted to hospital, police said.
“I survived, but my dear nephews were martyred,” said Imam Sayed Fazil Agha of the mosque.
According to the Ministry of Health, 66 people were killed and 78 were injured.
Since taking power in August, the Taliban claim to have secured the country and largely extirpated the Islamic State’s local splinter group.
The Afghan authorities did not immediately reveal any additional information on the deceased or assailant.
The suicide blast was widely assumed to have been perpetrated by an offshoot of the Islamic State.
