Clashes first broke out on Sunday when Iraqi forces began their operation to destroy YBS forces

Iraq, (PNB NEW). Clashes between Iraqi forces and the Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) backed militants have been reported in Sinjar.

The Iraqi army bombed the YBS in the Sinjar area, according to Arab media.

The Iraqi army struck the communications facility operated by Kurdish fighters during the airstrikes. Several Kurdish-backed militants were killed as a result.

The conflict between the Iraqi army and Kurdish-backed militants erupted on Monday and spread to other parts of the Sinjar district.

The offensive’s goal was to demolish YBS checkpoints that had prevented citizens from returning home.

According to the Iraqi military, YBS has been undermining and contesting Iraqi military power in Sinjar.

2 YBS snipers positioned themselves within the checkpoint, attempting to halt the Iraqi army’s progress in clearing roads and demolishing hillsides.

Troops from the pro-PKK unit attempted to assassinate the commander of the Iraqi army in the Al-Shamal sub-district earlier today.

The attack injured two soldiers and killed one Iraqi commander.

A dozen Yazidi fighters were also killed in the clashes, according to the military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Tensions are escalating between the Iraqi army and the Singal Guard, a Yazidi group (YBS), affiliated with the PKK.

Army officials said around 3,000 people fled Sinjar amid violent clashes between the army and a Kurdish separatist group.

The YBS commander stated that if necessary, they would launch an attack on the Iraqi army.
