The Sri Lankan government on Monday imposed a nationwide curfew

Sri Lanka, (PNB NEWS). Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, has resigned amid the country’s worst economic crisis.

The Sri Lankan government enforced a nationwide curfew and sent troops to the Colombo on Monday.

As per Reuters, the official said, “The prime minister has sent his resignation to the president.”

President Kotabaya Rajapaksa is the younger brother of the Prime Minister.

At least two foreign ministers have also announced their resignations, media reported.

Rajapaksa’s resignation offer comes just hours after his supporters disrupted a big protest rally in Colombo.

Anti-government protesters were assaulted by supporters of the govt, who were countered with tear gas and water cannon by police.

Over 100 anti-government protestors were hurt as a result of the skirmishes.
