Ten people were killed in a mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket
Buffalo, (PNB NEWS). Before being apprehended Saturday afternoon, a gunman opened fire with a rifle at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, killing at least ten people.
Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York and the state capital of Erie County.
Associated Press reported that the assailant was in military dress.
According to one of the officials, investigators suspect the shooter may have broadcast the shooting via a camera mounted to his helmet.
The video depicts an armed man dressed in military gear.
The attacker pulled the rifle from the front seat, pointed it at people in the parking, and opened fire as he exited the car, police said.
Officers also observed the suspect entering a supermarket and shooting several other innocent people.
One of the victims, according to officials, was a recently retired police officer who worked as a security guard at the store.
One of the officials cautioned that the investigation is still in its early stages, and that authorities have not yet identified a clear motive, but that they are looking into whether the shooting was racially motivated.
Buffalo police tweeted that the shooter had been apprehended but did not name the suspect.
Police officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the AP.
The offender was said to be a Caucasian man in his late teens or early twenties, wearing a full-length dress, a black helmet, and a weapon.
“He sat there with his gun to his cheek.”
We were baffled as to what was going on.
“What made this guy put a gun to his head?” one of the witnesses said.
He knelt on his knees. “He ripped off his hat, dropped his gun, and was arrested by the police.”
