Nepal, (PNB NEWS). According to airline and government officials, a small private plane carrying 22 people has mysteriously disappeared in Nepal.

The aircraft took off from the tourist town of Pokhara to Jomsom in western Nepal, Reuters reported today.

The Tara Air plane reportedly with 19 passengers and 3 crew members was on a 15-minute timed journey.

The airline mostly operates Twin Otter planes produced in Canada.

The plane lost contact with the airport tower shortly after takeoff.

The Associated Press reports that authorities have no information about the Twin Otter plane and are searching for it.

The aircraft had four Indians on board and two other foreigners of unknown nationalities, the private airline official said.

Although rain has recently poured in the hilly regions surrounding Jomsom, planes have continued to operate as usual.

It is a popular route for foreign hikers who travel the mountain pathways, as well as Indian and Nepalese devotees who visit the Muktinath temple.

Tara Air had lost a Twin Otter turboprop jet in the western part of Myagdi in 2016, leaving 23 dead.

There were 20 passengers and 3 crew members on board, including a Chinese national and a Kuwaiti national.
